A noblewoman of House Penrose of Parchments in the stormlands, distantly cousin to her husband through one of the side-branches of the Targaryens, wed in her youth to Prince Aerys Targaryen before he sat the throne. The prince had no interest in coming to her bed; rumor was that the marriage was never consummated at all. When Aerys came to the throne as Aerys I in 209 AC his small council pressed him hard to set her aside and wed a wife who might give the realm an heir, in the hope that the king's coldness was only against his queen and not against the act itself, but the king would have none of it and Aelinor kept her seat beside him. She was reckoned the gentlest of queens in her time, and went daily to the Great Sept of Baelor to pray to the Mother Above for a child that would not come. Aerys died in 221 AC without ever having got one upon her, and what became of his maiden queen after the chroniclers do not say.
