Brandon Stark (Brandon the Burner)

Son of Brandon the Shipwright, and the King of Winter who put his father's life work to the torch. When word came at last that the great westward voyage was lost, that there would be no return from the Sunset Sea, Brandon went down to the shipyards of the White Knife and to the wharves of the Wolf's Den and burned every hull his father had laid keel to. The northern fleet died in the same fires, and for the long centuries since the north has been a kingdom without ships and without a navy of its own.
