Daemon Velaryon

Lord of Driftmark in the years before Aegon's Conquest, head of an ancient Valyrian house already old in Westeros when the Targaryens still ruled only Dragonstone. When his liege took the dragons against the seven kings of Westeros, Daemon brought the Velaryon fleet across Blackwater Bay for him and was made the first Master of Ships of the new realm. He led that fleet north along the coast of the Vale, and there fell in battle in the waters off Gulltown after the mouth of the Blackwater Rush had already been won.
