Maron Martell

Ruling Prince of Dorne in the early reign of Daeron II, brother of Princess Myriah Martell who had been wed seventeen years earlier to the then-prince Daeron. Where his sister's marriage had been a courtship and her king's-throne a love-seat, Maron's match was an act of statecraft: in 187 AC, after two years of patient negotiation, he came to King's Landing and took Princess Daenerys Targaryen to wife, and in the same ceremony knelt and swore Dorne to the Iron Throne. The pact that brought Dorne into the realm where two centuries of dragons had failed left Sunspear with its princely title, its own laws, and its own taxation, and Maron commemorated the bargain by raising the Water Gardens on a piece of coast he had won at cyvasse from his bride.
