Mors Martell

Andal lord of the Sandship and head of a small house perched on the eastern shore of Dorne when Nymeria of Ny Sar brought her surviving Rhoynar ashore at the mouth of the Greenblood. The Martells in those days were nothing beside the Yronwoods who called themselves Kings of the Bones and the Stones, but Mors saw past the meagreness of his own banners to the long blade Nymeria's host could be in the hand that wielded it: he came to her camp on the Planky Town, took her to wife, and joined his lords' spears to her tens of thousands. In the wars that the singers would call Nymeria's War he and his queen broke the Yronwoods and a half-dozen petty Dornish kings beside; he fell at last in the Third Battle of the Boneway, killed by King Yorick V Yronwood, but Nymeria carried his line through to victory and called all that they had won the principality of Dorne, by his memory and her grace.
